Job Description:
The Oak Hill United School Corporation is seeking an elementary art instructor to travel between Converse, Sweetser, and Swayzee Elementary Schools to work with a school population of about 750 students. The Oak Hill Elementary Schools are looking for a creative, flexible art instructor to join our team of educators.
Primary Function:
The art instructor’s responsibilities include sourcing art supplies, preparing lessons, and providing developmentally appropriate instruction on art techniques to students at the elementary level. The candidate should also be able to supervise lessons to ensure that learners interact in a supportive and respectful manner. An elementary art instructor should be able to encourage creativity and self-expression among students.
Position Requirements:
- Planning lessons on art and art history in accordance with students' learning objectives
- Preparing the classroom by gathering and setting up equipment
- Developing students' drawing, coloring, and painting techniques
- Providing instruction on a variety of art techniques and the use of media such as graphite and charcoal pencils, as well as oil, acrylic, and watercolor paint
- Assigning and grading projects and assignments
- Recording and reporting on students' progress
- Ensuring that the classroom is organized and clean after each lesson
- Monitoring inventory and sourcing art supplies, as needed
- Attending faculty and parent-teacher meetings and conferences
- Implementing effective classroom management conducive to all learners
