High school diploma or equivalent required.
Associate degree, 48 college credit hours, or the ability to meet Indiana paraprofessional requirements preferred but not required.
Experience working with children, particularly students with disabilities, is preferred.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and work collaboratively with staff, students, and families.
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Essential Responsibilities
Assist students individually and in small groups with academic tasks and instructional activities.
Support the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) under the direction of certified staff.
Reinforce instructional concepts and accommodations as directed by the special education teacher.
Assist with behavior management strategies and social-emotional skill development.
Monitor and supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, playground, and other school settings.
Collect and maintain student data as directed.
Assist students with organizational skills, transitions, and daily routines.
Support students with personal care needs when necessary.
Prepare instructional materials and assist with classroom organization.
Participate in professional development and training as required.
Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or supervising teacher.
