Oak Hill United School Corporation currently has a bus aide position open. The individual would work each day school is in attendance and be paid an hourly rate. The hours per day vary (approximately 3-5 hours) due to continue changes in the student's schedules.
Job Description:
A bus aide will manage all special needs students on board a bus. He/she will make sure all seatbelts are fastened; wheelchair secured, and will operate the lift when needed. While the bus is moving the assistant will make sure all safety procedures are implemented. A bus aide will assist students off the bus. This would include but not limited to walking students into the building to another adult who then would take over supervision/responsibility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Knowledge of safety procedures for a bus
- Knowledge of basic first aid procedures and methods
- Ability to maintain appropriate student behavior on a bus or other transportation equipment
- Tact and diplomacy
- Understand and carry out oral and written directions
- Other duties and jobs as assigned/directed by the bus driver and/or administration

- o Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Computer Skills
- o A working knowledge of email is preferred
Other Qualifications
- o Must be able to relate well with children
- o Must work well with bus drivers
- o Must be at least 21 years of age
